Heart Thoughts: Celebrating Rev. Pat’s 15 Years

The Gold Stars this week go to our amazing Board of Trustees! What a wonderful community cookout they provided for all of us. Every table was filled with people eating, talking, laughing, and connecting, which is the very picture of community in action. As someone who lives alone, I know what it is like to sit down to meals in silence, and I also know that many of our folks experience the same thing. To have someone prepare a meal for you and then share conversation and fellowship around the table is a special gift. Thank you to our Board for…

Heart Thoughts: Celebrating Growth, Service, and Gratitude

If you’re a parent, you’ll probably relate to what I’m about to share. Do you remember when your child received a certificate, an award, or a letter recognizing something they had accomplished? Do you remember how proud you felt? That’s how I felt, and I hope you did too, when I shared during Sunday’s service the letter we received from the Town of Windham, specifically from Patrice Leary-Forrey, Food Pantry Coordinator, expressing gratitude for the generous donation of 45 pounds of fresh produce delivered from our community vegetable garden during the month of July. What a wonderful example of love…

Heart Thoughts: Celebrating Deana Gurney

Before July comes to a close, I want to take a moment to celebrate our wonderful Music Director, Deana Gurney.

Deana stepped into this role in July 2008, and for the past 18 years she has blessed our community with her extraordinary gift for selecting just the right music for each message and theme. Time and again, she amazes us with how perfectly the music complements the service.

Deana and I work together almost effortlessly, like hand and glove. Very little communication is needed between us, yet she always seems to know exactly what is needed, and the result is consistently spot-on.

She is also deeply dedicated to her music team, fostering a spirit of collaboration that allows everyone to work together seamlessly. Her leadership, talent, and commitment have enriched our ministry in countless ways.

Heart Thoughts: Becoming the Presence of Peace

Time flies when you’re having fun! I hope you’re enjoying a wonderful summer. We’ve certainly been blessed with beautiful weather, and our vegetable garden is thriving. We’re enjoying an abundance of fresh vegetables to take home, and we’re also grateful to be sharing some of the harvest with the Windham Food Pantry. I wanted to do a quick check-in with you. On June 26, we held a community meeting and invited everyone to complete a survey beforehand. One of the themes that emerged from both the discussion and the survey responses was a desire to make a few adjustments to…

Heart Thoughts: Finding Your Path

Another wonderful week has come to an end as a new one begins. We have been blessed with spectacular weather, though our lush vegetable garden and our personal gardens at home would certainly welcome a little rain. Speaking of gardens, fresh vegetables were available on Sunday for everyone to take home. A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated volunteers who water, weed, nurture, and tend the garden throughout the season. Your loving care makes the harvest possible, and our community is richer because of your efforts. We are truly grateful for all who help this beautiful ministry grow. Peace Concert…
