Greetings, beloved community! As another week unfolds, I am honored to share the exciting happenings at Unity Center for Spiritual Growth. Our vibrant space is truly alive with activity.
Let’s start with the labyrinth. In last week’s communication, I appealed on behalf of the labyrinth team for volunteers to join us on Saturdays in August. Their mission? To assist in removing the rocks that line the labyrinth’s path. I’m thrilled to report that this call has already been answered! If you visit, you’ll notice that the labyrinth is temporarily cordoned off during construction for everyone’s safety.
What’s next? In early September, Arrowhead Landscaping, led by Jeff Plumer, will step in. Their task is to remove the soil, allowing for the installation of a new weed barrier. The labyrinth will then be reconstructed to its former glory, with the rocks carefully replaced and a smooth stone dust pathway for easy navigation. Keep an eye out for updates—we’ll need your support as we move forward.
And mark your calendars! This Friday night, we’re hosting “Unity’s Got Talent.” Join us at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM) for an evening of entertainment and community connection. It’s a wonderful opportunity to introduce friends and family to our remarkable community.
Lastly, I recently traveled to Syracuse, New York, where I conducted Board Training with Unity of Syracuse and Unity Church of Greater Rochester. It was a rewarding experience, reinforcing our commitment to the broader Unity movement.
While I wasn’t present with you on Sunday, you were in the capable hands of Michelle Neas, our Board treasurer. Jennifer Joy Greaves led a Healing Service, which took the form of a group prayer circle. In this sacred practice, the Divine One or God was invoked to bring healing to those who seek it.
This special service has its roots in The Healing Order, now known as the Healing Activity. It’s one of the seven activities within the Inayatiyya spiritual community. For context, Inayatiyya follows universal Sufism — a path that Hazrat Inayat Khan, the Indian mystic, introduced to the West in 1910.
