Heart Thoughts: We Are Whole and Complete

In the span of a mere seven days, a multitude of events can unfold, and the spectrum of emotions experienced can be vast. The tragedy that occurred on Wednesday night undoubtedly continues to cast its profound effects upon many of us. Some among us might be acquainted with those directly impacted, or perhaps know someone who shares a connection with the incident.

This is precisely the moment when we can put into action the message I convey every Sunday – the idea that every individual is whole and complete, their actions stemming directly from the experiences that have shaped them in this lifetime. Now, as you read these words, take a moment to send love and compassion to all those directly affected by this situation. This circle of empathy encompasses not only the victims and their families but also extends to law enforcement officers and all others tirelessly working to piece together this unfortunate puzzle.

Our women’s retreat was an extraordinary experience, filled with both laughter and tears. Once again, the situation in Lewiston played a crucial role in our discussions throughout the weekend. Guided by the principles of A Course in Miracles, which emphasizes the existence of only love, we delved into what love truly feels and looks like, as well as how it contrasts with the manifestations of ego-driven actions.

Witnessing women, initially strangers on Friday night when the retreat commenced, forming deep bonds and friendships by the time the retreat concluded on Sunday was profoundly moving. These lasting connections were forged during our sessions, over shared meals, and under the moonlit sky on Saturday night as we joined in howls and drumming to the Hunter Moon. In the upcoming weeks, we will be announcing the dates for next year’s retreat, allowing you the opportunity to mark your calendars and participate in this transformative experience.

A special shout out to Rev Todd Glacy for sharing his message of “What is Truth” along with Rev. Matt Purinton for platforming. If you missed the service, you can watch it here.

A gentle reminder that we are having our Annual Meeting on Sunday following the service. If you are planning to attend, please bring a snack to share.

You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
