Wow… sums up the women’s retreat! The energy both Friday night and Saturday was palpable. The fire circle was very meaningful. We had a couple of really cool practices that we had fun with. Yes, I used the word FUN… that sums up the event. Although we learned a lot, we also had fun and laughed a lot. During the closing circle the word connection was used over and over again… we were so grateful for the connection and being with one another. Thank you to Cindy Uhl and Steph Plourde for supporting this event and to Sue Vittner, facilitator extraordinaire.
On Sunday we concluded Concept 4: That you can choose to expect the unexpected. We reviewed the A, B, C, for unexpected income. A = Ask, B = Believe, C = Collect. The second teaching in this chapter is on “coincidences.” Are they engineered or random? Psychology Today offers this explanation:
Coincidences exist. Coincidences are real. Saying that there are no coincidences stops inquiry. Challenging the statement forces us to make sense of its ambiguity and explore our potential involvement. You can choose the random perspective and with a wave of a mental hand, dismiss most coincidences as not worth further attention. Or, you can seek out their possible personal implications and make life into an adventure of discovery both about yourself and the world around you. As you explore, you may uncover the latent abilities hidden within you.
And it is the latent abilities hidden within you that Tony is getting in touch with…
ELF tells Tony… you will never be able to completely explain what you call “coincidences”; the best you can do is accept that sometimes your life unfolds in ways you can’t quite explain. That’s why it is so important that you believe that you will get what you ask for and leave the when, where and how up to me.
As we draw this concept, that you can choose to expect the unexpected to a close, let’s visit once again Unexpected Income.
Here are some suggestions you might want to use…
Before you begin… state to yourself and to at least one other person… TODAY I EXPECT TO RECEIVE UNEXPECTED INCOME and do that each day for a period of time.
In a notebook begin to date the top of the page for two weeks… underneath the date on each page write boldly: TODAY I EXPECT UNEXPECTED INCOME. Then begin listing each day the various amounts of UNEXPECTED INCOME you collect that day…
As you list each item…say I AM GRATEFUL FOR THIS UNEXPECTED INCOME AND EXPECT TO RECEIVE MORE UNEXPECTED INCOME TODAY.
Remember: Unexpected income is everything that is of monetary value to you except your salary, ss payment, pension, investments…
EVERYTHING ELSE IS UNEXPECTED INCOME BECAUSE YOU CAN’T ABSOLUTELY EXPECT TO RECEIVE IT…
I mentioned on Sunday there is a website where you can check for unclaimed funds. It is this for the state of Maine: https://maineunclaimedproperty.gov/ and for out of state it is https://unclaimed.org/state-reporting/
So here are some reports of unexpected income that have come to me. Kathy found $30 in unclaimed income… Patti found a gift card for $10, went shopping and found 30 percent off on items she needed… found a site to purchase something that was less than another site…
How much fun is this…please send me your wins… and might you even consider tithing on your unexpected income… just a thought!
Next week we will explore Concept 5: Realizing… that Gratefulness Is Your Most Creative Tool.
Also, next week will be our Annual Meeting starting at 11:30ish. It will be both in person and on Zoom.
Look forward to seeing you next week and hearing all about your unexpected income.
You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
