Honoring Transitions, Embracing Community.
This past weekend, I had the joy of supporting the Unity community in Charlottesville, Virginia, as they move through a sacred period of transition following the retirement of their minister of 24 years. It’s always a deep honor to walk alongside communities during these tender and transformative times.
While I was away, I was filled with gratitude knowing our own beloved leaders carried the light with such grace. A heartfelt thank you to Kim Cowperthwaite for stewarding the platform, and to Rev. Todd Glacy for co-creating a powerful, Spirit-infused experience.
When I watched the service recording (you can view it here), a message in the chat stirred something in me: “What an amazing, enthralling, and ‘feeling the love’ ceremony today. Many thanks and much love to all of the Unity family!”
Reading those words made my heart swell — like a parent beaming with quiet joy after seeing their child shine in the world.
As we approach the 4th of July, I invite you to mark this holiday in whatever way feels spiritually aligned and authentic for you. In times that feel anxious or uncertain, it’s more important than ever to choose presence over pressure, reflection over reaction.
Whether you’re gathering with loved ones, walking in nature, lighting a candle, or simply breathing in peace… may your celebration be rooted in freedom that starts within.
Let’s continue to honor not just the country we live in, but the beloved community we are creating together. Let us affirm: I honor the sacred freedom within me — to live with clarity, to lead with love, and to co-create a world rooted in Spirit, compassion, and courageous joy.
I’m deeply grateful for each of you taking the time to read this. You truly are special!
You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
