We’re already over a week into the decluttering challenge, and I’m thrilled to hear how many of you are letting go of things each day — that’s exactly the goal! Well done! Along with that, I’ve introduced a new challenge for the week: approaching every tough situation with an attitude of gratitude.
During this week’s Lenten series, The Foundations of Our Spiritual Path, we delved into The Transformative Power of Gratitude: Finding Joy in Every Moment. Lent offers us such a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect, and be thankful for all the blessings in our lives. A wonderful affirmation to carry with us is: “I am grateful for all that is and all that is yet to come.”
The Bible reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 to “give thanks in all circumstances,” encouraging us to recognize gratitude as a divine principle. Charles Fillmore’s metaphysical insights show gratitude as a powerful spiritual force that brings us into alignment with divine order. By choosing gratitude, we affirm the presence of the Divine in every moment, understanding that both joy and challenges contribute to our spiritual journey and growth. Let’s carry this spirit of gratitude with us this week and beyond!
Incorporating gratitude into your daily routine is a simple yet powerful way to transform your perspective and nurture joy. Here are some ideas:
Gratitude Journaling: At the start or end of each day, jot down 3-5 things you’re grateful for. They can be big or small—like a meaningful conversation or the warmth of sunlight.
Morning Affirmations: Begin your day with gratitude-based affirmations. For instance, “I am grateful for the abundance in my life” or “Today, I choose to see the blessings around me.”
Mindful Moments: Take a few minutes during meals, walks, or quiet times to reflect on the blessings in that moment. Savor the flavors of your food or the beauty of nature.
Express Gratitude to Others: Send a heartfelt note or share a kind word of appreciation with someone who has impacted your life. This deepens connections and spreads positivity.
Gratitude Meditation: Dedicate a few minutes daily to meditating on things you’re thankful for. Focus on your breath and let gratitude fill your heart.
Visual Reminders: Place sticky notes or objects around your space with words or images that inspire thankfulness—a photo of loved ones, a favorite quote, or even a rock from a serene place.
Gratitude Jar: Write down something you’re thankful for each day and place it in a jar. Over time, you’ll have a collection of moments to revisit and celebrate.
These practices can be seamlessly integrated into your routine with intention and consistency.
If you missed the service, you can watch it now.
Next Sunday is Palm Sunday, and we invite you to join us for a deeply sacred experience. The service will feature cherished rituals, including walking the palms during meditation, a Spiritual Baptism, and moving musical performances. Among the highlights will be Cali Crowley’s rendition of The Holy City, adding a beautiful touch to the day. It promises to be a profound and uplifting celebration!
I’m deeply grateful for each of you taking the time to read this. You truly are special!
You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
