Some weeks are easier than others to write this article. This is a tougher week, and the reason is because I am a little sleep deprived; however, when I remember it is not me but Spirit within me doing the work, I can let the ideas flow onto this document.
This is exactly what the talk was about on Sunday. We have the power within to move mountains or to bring thoughts into sentences. However, before I go any further, I want to remind you that our theme for the new year is “Review and Renew in 2022.” On Sunday we had a tweaking to our offering statement, and it is just a small tweak but a most important one.
The original offering statement was, “Divine Love, as me…” and it has been changed to “Divine Love, flowing from me… ” This is the subtle change… and think about this… when you go to a costume party as Myrtle Fillmore, for example, you are never Myrtle Fillmore. As we are Love, it stands to reason it is flowing from me. The former version then went on to say “blesses and multiplies all that I am, all that I give and all that I receive.” The new version is “blesses and multiplies all that I have, all that I give and all that I receive.” So, think about this “all that I am is thought of as I AM, which never can be multiplied. Okay, a little something for you to chew on!
The message on Sunday was titled “A Clean Slate.” I shared about the god Janus, who was the god of doors, gates, and transitions. It was Roman emperor Julius Caesar who created the calendar and gave the first month the name of this god, Janus… January.
Janus’ month has always been a time of endings and beginnings, when we have the feeling of making a fresh start on a clean slate.
Someone put the feeling in verse:
And now I have my New Year book to fill;
No Word yet penned in it,
nor any blot upon the white sheets,
the pages still uncut, though dated day by day.
Just what they will record,
God only can foretell—
What will you record in your New Year’s book?
Sometimes Janus ushers us into the room of old habits and says, “Why don’t you leave one of these behind?”
We can be liberated from whatever it is we want to leave behind.
You may be asking yourself “how.”
There exists a mystic Power that is able to transform your life so thoroughly, so radically, so completely, that when the process is completed your own friends would hardly recognize you, and, in fact, you will scarcely recognize yourself.
It is that power that I mentioned above…
Here’s the good news – it is free of charge – this Power is already within your own consciousness…
I know it is the last place that most of us would look for it.
There are so many treasures in this message, so if you need to be reminded you have this power, watch the video again.

I am very excited that this coming Sunday I will begin a year of reviewing and renewing Unity’s message of prayer, prosperity, healing and so much more. The first seven weeks will be getting to know Unity authors. The first will be May Rowland, the director of Silent Unity for 55 years.
See you on Sunday… stay well…
You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
