You know that old saying, “There’s no place like home”? Well, I can absolutely vouch for that. As much as I’m grateful for the amazing two weeks I spent in Spain with some truly incredible people, being back home just feels right.
The trip unfolded in three distinct phases for me. The first few days were filled with pure wonder — I had no idea what to expect, and everything felt new and exciting. Then came the middle stretch, where I started to settle in. I knew the rhythm, understood what was expected, and things began to feel familiar. But by the final few days, I was ready. I’d seen enough cathedrals, browsed enough souvenir shops, and made one too many food decisions. I was full in every sense of the word and ready to come home.
I’m not sure if you’ve ever felt that way on a trip, but that was my experience. And now, being back, I’m soaking in the comfort of home with a full heart.
Part 3 Living Prayerfully — Making Life a Sacred Practice from the series Prayer Reimagined — Awakening the Power Within was just what was needed for all of us. It was a beautiful invitation to shift how we move through life from routine to reverence. In Living Prayerfully, we are reminded that prayer isn’t just something we do; it’s the way we live. When we approach life as a sacred practice, every moment becomes an opportunity to commune with Spirit.
Living prayerfully unfolds through three powerful pathways, each offering simple yet profound practices to help us stay rooted in the sacred:
1. Presence as Prayer
Presence is the foundation of living prayerfully. When we are fully present, we are aligned with our spiritual essence. We stop rushing, multitasking, and numbing — and, instead, we begin to notice.
“Be still and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Stillness is not just silence; it’s attentiveness. Washing dishes becomes a meditation.
Listening deeply becomes a sacrament. Presence transforms routine into reverence.
Practice: Pause throughout your day and ask, “Am I here?”
Let your breath anchor you. Let your awareness sanctify the moment.
2. Intention as Prayer
Living prayerfully means choosing your thoughts, words, and actions with sacred intention.
It’s about aligning your outer life with your inner truth.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight.” — Psalm 19:14
Your intentions shape your reality.
When you speak with kindness,
When you act with integrity, and
When you think with clarity, you are praying with your life.
Practice: Begin each day with a soul-centered intention.
Examples: “Today I embody peace.” or “I choose compassion in every interaction.”
Let your intention be the compass that guides your choices.
3. Service as Prayer
Service is love in action. When we serve from our divine nature, we become channels of grace.
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
Service is not just volunteering —
It’s how we show up for others,
how we listen,
how we forgive,
how we uplift.
It’s the way we bless the world with our presence.
Practice: Ask daily: “How can I be a blessing today?”
Let your life be the answer.
If you missed the talk or want to revisit its wisdom, I encourage you to watch the replay or spend time with these pathways in your own sacred rhythm. Life is the altar — and we are the prayer.
In the final message of our Prayer Reimagined series, we take a bold step forward — from inner alignment into dynamic, creative living. Inspired by Linda Martella-Whitsett’s How to Pray Without Talking to God, this talk invites us to activate our spiritual power and live as channels of divine ideas.
Come ready to be inspired, empowered, and reminded that your life is not only sacred — it’s a masterpiece in progress.
So, dear ones, as we move through this season together, may we continue to find meaningful ways to connect, grow, and serve. Whether you join us in person, online, or simply in spirit, know that your presence matters. Let’s keep showing up—with open hearts, clear intentions, and the joy of knowing we’re walking this sacred path together.
You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
