If you were at the service on Sunday, either in person or on Facebook, or if you’ve watched the replay, you already know the exciting news: New York Times bestselling author Cheryl Richardson is joining us on February 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a workshop on “Self-Care for the Wisdom Years.” This is such an incredible opportunity! I encourage you to reach out to your best buddies and invite them to experience this with you. Registration is required and can be done online or at the Unity Bookstore on Sundays. Let’s turn out in big numbers for this fantastic event!
This past Sunday, we kicked off a new series that’s perfect for the new year: “Starting 2025 with Purpose and Unity.” We’ll be covering a range of meaningful topics, including building a supportive community, cultivating inner peace, empowering personal growth, fostering compassion and kindness, and visioning a brighter future.
Our first session was all about “Embracing New Beginnings.” To truly embrace new beginnings, we must be willing to let go and open ourselves to new possibilities. I shared my personal story about how I was led to ministry, realizing that denying the call would be more painful than taking the leap. It’s a journey of letting go and stepping into the unknown with faith.
Holding onto the past can prevent us from fully embracing the present and future. By releasing what no longer serves us, we create fertile ground for new seeds to grow and flourish. Transformation is at the heart of letting go. As we release old patterns, beliefs, and attachments, we undergo a profound metamorphosis.
This transformation allows us to step into our authentic selves, free from the limitations of the past. It is through this process that we discover our true potential and the limitless possibilities that lie before us.
Practical Steps for Embracing Endings and Beginnings: While understanding the theory behind endings and beginnings is essential, it is equally important to have practical tools to navigate these transitions.
Here are some steps to help embrace change with grace and courage.
Acknowledge Your Emotions: Allow yourself to feel and express your emotions. Whether it is through journaling, talking to a trusted friend, or seeking professional support, acknowledging your feelings is the first step towards healing and growth.
Reflect on the Lessons: Take time to reflect on what you have learned from the experience. What insights have you gained? How have you grown? By identifying the lessons, you can carry this wisdom forward into your new beginning.
Practice Gratitude: Cultivate an attitude of gratitude for what was and what is to come. Gratitude shifts your focus from what you have lost to what you have gained, opening your heart to the abundance of possibilities.
Set Intentions for the Future: As you embark on a new beginning, set clear intentions for what you wish to create. Visualize your goals and aspirations and take inspired action towards them. Intentions act as a guiding light, keeping you focused and motivated.
Trust the Process: Have faith in the journey and trust that life is unfolding as it should. Remember that every ending is a new beginning in disguise. Trusting the process allows you to navigate change with ease and confidence.
Embracing the Cycle of Life: Endings and beginnings are an integral part of the human experience. By embracing change and letting go, we open ourselves to the unlimited possibilities that life has to offer.
Each ending is a stepping stone to a new beginning, and each beginning holds the promise of growth, transformation, and infinite potential. As we move through our journey, may we do so with an open heart, a willing spirit, and a deep trust in the process of life.
Letting go is not an end but a beginning — a gateway to a future filled with endless possibilities.
Hope to see you all engaged and excited for what’s to come! If you have any thoughts or questions, feel free to reach out. Let’s make 2025 a year of growth and unity together.
Join me next Sunday for “Building a Supportive Community” and also for the workshop following: Unlocking Your Inner Voice: The Art of Automatic Writing.
I’m deeply grateful for each of you taking the time to read this. You truly are special!
You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
