Heart Thoughts: Less Is Enough Right Now

Lately, many of us are feeling a lot in motion at once: ideas, invitations, opportunities, and quiet inner nudges all asking for our attention. In times like these, it can be tempting to say yes to everything out of enthusiasm, obligation, or even fear of missing what Spirit might be doing.

Yet one of the most faithful spiritual practices available to us right now is discernment.

Discernment invites us to pause and listen more deeply, not just to what is possible, but to what is essential. It reminds us that saying no can be just as holy as saying yes, and that availability, clarity, and rest are not signs of disengagement, but of wisdom.

Alongside this invitation, the Board and I are consciously committing to less doing and more listening and discerning in this season. We sense that wisdom is not asking us to move faster, but to move more attentively, creating space for Spirit to guide what comes next. This felt shift is not only a leadership posture; it is an important practice for our entire community. As we learn together to pause, listen, and choose with intention, we strengthen our collective capacity to meet what is unfolding with clarity, focus, ease, and grace.

As you move through this week, you might gently ask yourself:

What is mine to say yes to right now? What would I need to release in order to meet it with full presence and energy?

Less isn’t lack.

Less can be alignment.

Less can be trust.

May we each honor the season we’re in, choosing thoughtfully, listening deeply, and allowing Spirit to guide not just our actions, but our pace.

As we explored in Sunday’s talk, being impeccable with our word doesn’t mean forcing ourselves into positive language or perfect choices. It means noticing when fear is doing the talking and choosing not to let it be the authority. Truth speaks more quietly, and it often invites us into simplicity rather than more effort. When we pause, listen, and choose our words, our yeses, from that deeper place, we align with the Christ within, remembering that clarity is already present and freedom begins the moment we are willing to choose again.

Coming Next Week — Don’t Take It Personally: Returning to the Sovereign Self

Next week, we continue our series with Week 3: Don’t Take It Personally, exploring the Second Agreement and its invitation to return to inner freedom and self‑sovereignty. So much of our suffering comes from personalizing what others say and do — taking on projections, expectations, or approval as measures of our worth. Through a Unity lens, we’ll remember a liberating truth: Our divine identity remains untouched by appearances.

Together, we’ll explore the difference between perception and projection, release habits of people‑pleasing and codependence, and reconnect with the steady center within — the place where we can rest in clarity, inner strength, and peace. Join us as we move from release to sovereignty, and from sovereignty into a deeper, gentler freedom.

You are a blessing in my life,

Rev. Patricia Bessey
