Heart Thoughts: Holy Week

Ah, technology can be both a blessing and a challenge, and Sunday definitely tested that balance! We ran into some hiccups with streaming and PowerPoint, but the service carried on, reminding me of simpler times when these tools weren’t even in the picture. Huge thanks to Christine Wolf and Rebecca Wells for stepping up. They not only got the streaming going on YouTube but also managed to troubleshoot the PowerPoint and finally get it working.

Even with the rocky start, the highlight of the morning was undoubtedly Cali’s breathtaking performance of The Holy City. Honestly, it felt like the roof could’ve blown off — in the best way possible — with those powerful high notes she hit. What an unforgettable moment!

Now with Palm Sunday in the rearview mirror, we move on to Holy Week. It is a time to pause, reflect, and open our hearts to the sacred mysteries unfolding before us. It’s an opportunity to walk alongside Jesus — feeling the weight of His sacrifice and embracing the grace and love poured out for all.

Each day of Holy Week offers us a unique spiritual focus. Let’s explore these themes together:

Monday & Tuesday: Prayerful Contemplation
Begin the week with quiet reflection on Jesus’ teachings, drawing strength from His words. Turn to scripture and prayer for guidance with the challenges you face, and let gratitude anchor your heart as you meditate on His love and wisdom.

Holy Wednesday: Preparing Our Hearts
On Wednesday, we reflect on Judas’ decision to betray Jesus, reminding us of the human frailty we all share. It’s a moment to ask: How can we release resentment, forgive others, and align our hearts with Christ’s example of unwavering forgiveness?

Holy Thursday: Embracing Humility & Service
Thursday calls us to remember the Last Supper, where Jesus humbled Himself by washing the feet of His disciples. Reflect on acts of service you can offer in your own life. How might humility and compassion guide the way?

Good Friday: Honoring Sacrifice
As we remember Jesus’ crucifixion, let us honor His profound sacrifice—the love that led Him to the cross and the forgiveness He extended even in His final moments. Allow this day to inspire gratitude and a renewed commitment to live with grace and compassion.

Holy Saturday: Waiting with Hope
Holy Saturday invites us into the sacred act of waiting—with faith and hope amidst uncertainty. Reflect on what you wait for in your life, and let this day deepen your trust in God’s plan and the promises yet to unfold.

Easter Sunday: The Joy of Renewal
Finally, we anticipate Easter morning—the joyful culmination of Holy Week. It’s a celebration of life over death, light over darkness, and hope over despair. As we move through this sacred week, let us hold fast to the promise of resurrection, renewal, and eternal life.

An affirmation to carry in your heart: I am grateful for all that is and all that is yet to come.

Join me on Zoom Thursday evening at 7 for a Holy Thursday service.

I’m deeply grateful for each of you taking the time to read this. You truly are special!

You are a blessing in my life,
