Heart Thoughts: Healing Meditation

To express my gratitude for the creature comforts like electricity would be an understatement. After nearly 72 hours without power, I found myself losing all the Unity speak that I know. The reality is that in my humanness, I craved hot water, internet, and warmth — all of which vanish when the power goes out. However, no matter how much I yearned for it, it didn’t happen until it did!

This experience holds a profound lesson for me. It echoes what I teach in the “I of the Storm”: nothing is against me. Even though the power outage felt like a personal challenge at times, it wasn’t truly against me. There were moments when I heard that someone else’s power had been restored, yet mine remained out. This happened multiple times. But when I finally stopped waiting and devised a plan to prepare for Sunday morning, the power miraculously returned.

I’ve encountered multi-day power outages before in my life, but this was the first time experiencing it while living alone. And I made it through! I even took myself out to breakfast — an unprecedented solo restaurant visit. As I reflect on it, I recognize it as another opportunity for growth. The adage holds true: You’re never too old to learn.

To all of you who reached out and checked on me, you were my lifelines. This demonstrates the essence of being part of a loving community.

On another note, we had a total eclipse on Monday. Thank you to all who have been posting pictures on Facebook. There were many of you that went to places here where you would be in the path of the eclipse. I can only imagine the experience you had. Hopefully we can hear it during “sharing the good news” on Sunday.

We are coming down to the wire with the series Supercharged Self-Healing. One more week to go. If you missed the service, you can watch it here.

This past Sunday was Step 6: Turn Off the Program of Illness. Turning off the program of illness isn’t about fixing broken parts; it’s about reconnecting to the cosmic symphony within — the invincible Self awaiting activation.

Here is the meditation I did on Sunday. You may want to record it in your own voice and use it until the program of illness is no longer running.

Let’s embark on a soothing journey to turn off the program of illness; sit comfortably and close your eyes. Breathe deeply, allowing each inhale to fill you with healing energy and each exhale to release any tension. Inhale deeply through your nose, counting to four. Hold your breath for a moment. Exhale slowly through your mouth, releasing any negativity.

Start at the crown of your head. Imagine a warm light gently scanning down through your body. As it moves, visualize it dissolving any areas of discomfort or dis-ease. Pay attention to each part: forehead, eyes, jaw, neck, shoulders, chest, arms, spine, hips, legs, and feet. Feel the tension melting away, leaving behind only tranquility.

Silently repeat these affirmations:

• “I am resilient.”
• “My body knows how to heal.”
• “I release any patterns of illness.”
• “Wellness flows through me.”
• “I am in harmony with my body.”

Imagine a soft, glowing light surrounding you. As you inhale, visualize this light entering your body, reaching every cell. With each exhale, imagine it carrying away any illness or imbalance. Continue this rhythmic breath for a few minutes.

Picture yourself in a serene garden. The air smells of flowers, and a gentle breeze caresses your skin. In the center of the garden, there’s a crystal-clear pool. Step into the water, feeling its coolness envelop you. As you submerge, visualize any illness as dark clouds dissolving into the water. Imagine your cells rejuvenating, vibrant and healthy.

Release and Let Go: Recall any specific illness or discomfort. Acknowledge it without judgment. Now, imagine a switch or button labeled “Illness Program.” With intention, flip it off. See the program shutting down completely. Feel relief and freedom.

Gratitude: Express gratitude for your body’s wisdom and resilience. Thank your immune system, organs, and cells for their tireless work. Visualize them functioning optimally, supporting your well-being.

Take a final deep breath, inhaling positivity. As you exhale, release any remaining tension. Slowly open your eyes, feeling refreshed and renewed.

Remember, this meditation is a gentle invitation to activate your body’s innate healing abilities.

Next week we conclude with Use the Power of the Spoken Word.

Know that you are so very loved and appreciated.

You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
