Heart Thoughts: Even Here, Spirit is Present

Hello beautiful souls,

What a joy it was to gather again this Sunday at Unity Center for Spiritual Growth. The garden is absolutely thriving, such a vibrant reflection of the love and care this community pours into everything. And what a treat it was to share the bounty! There’s something so special about taking home a little piece of that abundance.

This week, we have two truly nourishing experiences lined up for you:

Tonight – Live Soul Healing Readings
Doors open at 6:15, and we’ll begin at 6:30. Come with an open heart and a willingness to receive—these readings have a way of touching just the right places within.

Friday Evening – Outdoor Sanctuary Sound Journey
Join us at 7 under the open sky for a deeply restorative sound experience. Let the vibrations carry you into stillness, clarity, and peace.

Both events are open to all, and you’re welcome to pay at the door. I trust they’ll bring something meaningful to your week.

Next Sunday, I’ll be away — but you’ll be in wonderful hands with Rev. Matt Purinton, whose presence and wisdom are always a blessing.

This Sunday, we explored a theme that touches each of us at some point on our spiritual journey: Sacred Detours.

We often imagine our path unfolding in a straight line — clear, purposeful, and uninterrupted. But Spirit has a way of lovingly rerouting us, not to confuse or delay, but to deepen our trust, expand our vision, and reveal blessings we might have missed otherwise.

What Is a Sacred Detour? A sacred detour is that unexpected turn that leads us to greater clarity, connection, or healing. It’s Spirit’s gentle nudge saying, “There’s something more for you here.” These moments may feel like setbacks, but they are often the very gateways to transformation.

Here are some highlights:

Detours are Divine Invitations: Life’s interruptions may be Spirit’s way of guiding us toward something richer and more aligned.

Unity author Eric Butterworth says: “The place you are in is the place you need to be, because it is the place where you can best grow.”

Reframe the Disruption: Instead of asking “Why is this happening to me?” ask,“How is this happening for me?” This shift opens us to divine perspective. It moves us from victimhood to vision.

Stay Spiritually Engaged: Even in uncertainty, we can be channels for good. Unity’s Daily Word often reminds us: “I am in the flow of divine order.”

Trust Divine Timing: Detours often come with delays. We want the palace now—but Spirit may be preparing us. Trust that what is yours cannot be lost. It is simply unfolding at the right time.

As Myrtle Fillmore said: “We do not have to wait for the future to be happy. We can begin now.”

Community Invitation: Let us hold space for one another’s detours. Let us be the kind of community that says, “Even here, Spirit is present.”

Let us remind each other that no path is wasted. Every twist holds wisdom. Every delay carries grace.

Closing Affirmation: I trust the sacred detours of my life. Spirit is guiding me through every twist and turn. I am exactly where I need to be.

Journaling Prompt: Recall a time when a detour led to unexpected grace. What did you learn? What shifted within you?

May we continue to walk with faith, knowing that every twist and turn is held in divine love. The path may surprise us—but it always leads home.

If you missed the service on Sunday (I hope you were doing something fun) you could watch it here.

Sending love and gratitude for the sacred ways we grow together.

You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
