I often talk about how blessed I feel after our Sunday services, and this week, I feel doubly blessed. Recently, we started a tradition of honoring those who celebrate a birthday during the month with a birthday cake on the first Sunday. This past Sunday, along with others, it was my birthday month, and I was surprised by the Board of Trustees with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a gift certificate to a spa. I am incredibly grateful for these gifts.
The most touching part was hearing the qualities they see in me. It was humbling to hear how my growth and expansion positively impacted them. This kind of recognition is truly a gift that money can’t buy.
Another delightful surprise was a chocolate birthday cake with chocolate frosting, knowing my passion for dark chocolate.
You won’t want to miss the events at Unity this week. Tonight, we have a reception for the CD release of songs written by Don Knecco and performed by Deana Gurney. This celebration is like welcoming a new baby. Congratulations to Don and Deana!
On Friday evening, we have the Spring Serenade – A Sound Journey Celebrating Mothers and Gaia with Jason and Rebecca LaWind. It starts at 7 p.m. Wear comfy clothes and consider bringing a mat and blanket to fully enjoy the experience.
Saturday is our Spring Clean-Up Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided, and tools will be available. All we need is you!
On Sunday the message was Grace in Motion: Living the Principle of Flow. If you missed it, you could watch it here.
The talk explores the concept of spiritual flow, emphasizing how aligning with divine grace allows us to navigate life with ease and purpose, even amid challenges. Here are the key points:
1. Spiritual Flow: Being in alignment with divine grace helps us handle life’s challenges and joys with ease and trust.
2. Resistance: Acts like a dam in a river, blocking the natural flow of grace. It manifests as resisting change, holding onto resentment, or denying reality, creating tension and complicating life.
3. Surrender: Not about passivity, but an act of trust. It involves allowing life to move naturally rather than forcing it into a predetermined path. This openness invites divine wisdom, synchronicity, and healing.
4. Charles Fillmore’s Insight: Emphasizes the importance of letting go to make space for desired outcomes, highlighting that resistance blocks flow while surrender invites grace.
5. Grace in Uncertainty: Most visible during uncertain times, acting as a quiet force that supports us through transitions, reminding us to trust the flow even without seeing the destination.
6. Historical and Spiritual Examples: Stories like Moses leading the Israelites and Myrtle Fillmore’s healing journey illustrate grace as trusting in a process larger than individual effort.
7. Everyday Life: Grace steadies us in new roles, facing loss, or personal transformation, whispering that we don’t have to carry the burden alone.
8. Trusting the Path: The labyrinth metaphor extends to life, where letting go of rigid expectations allows for deeper wisdom and synchronicities to emerge, embodying grace in motion.
Next week is Mother’s Day and we have a special service with 12 Women of the Bible speaking. Please join us.
I’m deeply grateful for each of you taking the time to read this. You truly are special!
You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
