Heart Thoughts: Dare to Be Yourself

On Wednesday morning at 8:20 a.m., following an incredible Giving Tuesday, I am thrilled to update you on our progress toward reaching our $15,000 goal. The current total raised stands at $11,230, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all who have generously contributed to support the initiatives at Unity Center for Spiritual Growth. Even though Giving Tuesday has passed, we are still actively welcoming and appreciating your generosity as we strive to achieve our fundraising target.

A resounding Woo Hoo goes out to the fantastic individuals who joined us last Saturday to decorate for Christmas. Special thanks to Janice Murphy, Rebecca Wells, Nancy Sawyer, Sandy Watson, and Cali Crowley for lending their artistic talents. We had a delightful time!

As we bring November to a close, we are also finishing the series Dare to Be Yourself. I have enjoyed this series so much and from many of you I am hearing it resonated for you as well. I received a beautiful email from Vanessa Gates Elston (Betty Gate’s daughter) and this poem was within it which I feel sums up what Dare to Be Yourself is all about:

May I be Brave.
May I allow myself to see all of who I am.
Who I am meant to be, who I want to be.
May I remember that which I held close to my heart.
May I re-center and find what is my true North.
May I feel what it means to be safe – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
May I allow for change.
May I hold that which is so critical to my well-being to the forefront. Not cast aside.
May I be true to who I used to be or want to be – not who I have to be.
May I allow the light to carry forth my knowing.
May I remember I am allowed to restart and begin again.
May I be free.
May all beings be free.
May I remember what feels soft, pleasurable, sacred, delightful, kind, and my yes.
May I remember who I used to be away from everyone.

Please join us on Sunday as we begin the Advent season with a special service focusing on peace in our world with Rev. Todd Glacy. You will not want to miss experiencing his gong meditation.

Know that you are so very loved and appreciated.

You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
