Heart Thoughts: Awake, Aware, Connected

As I begin writing this, I am listening to boarding announcements because I am sitting in the Charlotte airport on Monday evening heading home from a retreat in Boone, North Carolina. The title of the retreat was Awake, Aware, and Connected. The presenter was Suzanne Giesemann. I am telling you this because there is a story that connects this together. Here it is… it was noon on Saturday, and I was having lunch when I got a text from Leah Rush. Leah was scheduled to give the talk Sunday morning and a personal situation arose that caused her to have to cancel.

So here is where awake plays in… in that moment I was awake to not panic. I was in the mountains of North Carolina and clearly couldn’t step in myself. However, I was aware of a conversation I had the previous Sunday with Rev. Barbara Kowalska, who casually mentioned to me that she had a talk that dovetailed perfectly with the series I was doing. At the time I said I would keep that in mind. Do you see where I am going?

Connected… in that moment I was connected to ELF… the Eternal Life Force and was reminded of the conversation with Barbara. I texted her and she responded immediately. I asked if she could step in and deliver the talk and without hesitation, she said yes. This all transpired in less than 30 minutes.

As I reflect on this, I see my own growth… not once did I stress… the old metal box of how am I going to fix this wasn’t showing up. Instead, the solution was right in front of me.

So here is another element that plays into this that I am remembering as I write this… a message I got on Saturday morning during an exercise was… take your hand off the wheel and let me drive! How appropriate was that message?

With the help of my team in spirit and at Unity Center for Spiritual Growth you got great service on Sunday. If you missed it, you can watch it here

I look forward to being back with you this Sunday with more teachings from ELF, Eternal Life Force.

You are a blessing in my life,
Rev. Patricia Bessey
