I’m just in awe of this community.
Driving home after Sunday’s service and potluck — with the temps soaring into the 90s — I couldn’t stop thinking about how amazing it felt to be inside the building, cool and comfortable. I was filled with gratitude for how this community always shows up when there’s a need. That comfort? It’s thanks to the new heat pump in Fellowship Hall. We’re experiencing air conditioning like never before!
And then my thoughts shifted to the roof project — remember the call for 100 bundles of shingles? I heard we hit the goal! Incredible. This community truly rocks.
All of this ties right into the message I shared on Sunday. I kicked off a new series called Cultivating the Inner Shift, and the first talk was The Myth of Not Enough: Releasing the Scarcity Spell. I wanted to challenge that nagging belief so many of us carry — that there’s never enough. Not enough time, not enough sleep, not enough money… you name it.
But Sunday reminded me: When we come together, there is enough. More than enough.
Lynne Twist, author of The Soul of Money, says: “Scarcity is the great lie. Sufficiency isn’t about quantity — it’s an experience, a way of being.”
And Unity calls us to wake up from that lie.
Charles Fillmore wrote: “The spiritual substance from which comes all visible wealth is never depleted. It is right with you all the time and responds to your faith in it and your demands on it.”
Unity teaches that we do not strive for good — we awaken to it.
Unity minister and author Eric Butterworth puts it this way: “Prosperity is not something you acquire. It is something you tune into.”
And right along with Butterworth, Myrtle Fillmore, in her deep faith, declared: “We do not believe in lack. We believe in the almighty power and ever-present resources of Spirit.”
Again, from Lynne Twist: “Sufficiency is not two steps up from poverty or one step short of abundance… It is an experience, a context we generate, a knowing that there is enough.”
A Declaration of Enoughness
Infinite Source of Good, we remember now: You are our supply. Our breath. Our life. We release the myth of not enough. We stand in the radiant field of sufficiency where all is possible. We are ready to stop striving and start trusting. We walk in faith, not fear. In gratitude, not grasping. In love, not lack.
