Friday, March 13, 2020 — We want to take a moment to let you know what we, at Unity Center for Spiritual Growth, are doing with regard to the coronavirus that has now been labeled a pandemic by the World Health Organization.

We are closely watching the Maine CDC for updates and information on the COVID-19 virus. In these last two days the news of two presumptive positive cases and one preliminary presumptive positive case of coronavirus in Maine, the Board has been in constant communication to make a plan to limit the possibility of exposure in our community.

At this time, we will suspend our Sunday services this week out of an abundance of caution. We will also cancel all events scheduled throughout the week.

The decision was made for us when the Maine CDC recommended at their briefing today that folks 60 and over avoid groups of ten or more.

Rev. Pat and Deana will do an abbreviated 10 a.m. service on Facebook Live and we are gearing up for our Sunday service to be live-streamed in the future. This will allow the service to be viewed from home.

We invite all within our community to hold a collective vision of healing, along with our individual power of discernment, as we move through this time together. We will continue to watch the Maine CDC recommendations, consider the needs of our community, and adjust as we go along. Going forward we will keep you apprised on any changes as they are happening.

This is an important time for us as a community to stay connected and we can do that by taking time each day to make a couple of calls to your friends. If you have a special need please either call, or text me, at 757-636-8241.

Last and most important is to remind you of the power of prayer and spiritual practice. We simply must not give in to fear. We must refuse to give way to panic. We must dig into our faith and lean into our spiritual practice. Let us join with others throughout our Unity movement in this prayer or one of your own choosing:

We know that God is a Love that has no end and a Power that knows no bounds. God’s healing power of Divine Life is restoring, healing, and revitalizing our world in this very moment. We let go of any fears or anxieties, and we affirm that all are safe, healthy, and protected. We bless all those who support us in maintaining vibrant radiant health. We express Divine Life in all we think, say, and do. We bless our global family with radiant health, peace of mind, and abundant love.
