Sunday message (audio) by guest speaker Matt Purinton
From Rev. Pat Bessey: A huge shout-out to Matt Purinton, our board chair and facilitator of A Course in Miracles, which has a large group that comes together the first, third and fifth Sundays, who shared the message on Sunday. Thank you, Matt!
The title was “Who We Are.” Here is a quote from Unity writer Imelda Shanklin from the book What Are You?: “When you become aware of your immortal nature, fear of death leaves you, and with it go all other forms of fear. All fear is based on fear of death… Consciousness of your true identity is your awareness that you are as enduring as God. You cannot fear the thing that cannot take place. You know that God’s immortality is your immortality and there can be no death.”
Although I wasn’t there to hear Matt, I have heard from many what a great talk he gave.
This month we have an array of wonderful classes and events. If you are free during the day, the Tuesday class Wild Mercy by Mirabai Starr is causing quite a positive stir, and the participants are enjoying the book and the connection with others in the community.
Wednesday evening offers another class based on a book by Mirabai Starr. This time the book is God of Love. In this class you will have deep discussions on the ideas Mirabai puts forth, and time also will be dedicated to meditation and writing. Join us at 6:30 p.m., ending at 8 p,m.
If this isn’t enough, the Season for the Earth has a great event with Vanessa Berry from EcoMaine talking on wishful recycling and how it harms. This will be on Thursday, May 16 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Keep your calendar open, as there is one more event for you to add. My good friend Bill Keller will be offering a course that I am looking forward to, and that is “Exploring Google.” Bill teaches adult ed classes on this and other computer science classes. This will be on Thursday, May 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Come and learn more with me on what we can do with the little phone we hold near and dear.
Of course, we have our regular groups and events that we do monthly.
Join me next Sunday. As it is Mother’s Day, bring your mom to church with you!
You are a blessing in my life.
