Being with Death: How Death and Dying Can Profoundly Change the Way We Live

Thursdays, October 3-November 14 (with exceptions; see below) and Wednesday, October 30, 6:30-8 p.m. Register below.

The opportunity to be involved with death in an intimate and personal way is limited in our present American culture. The medical system, funeral industry and our own denial of death have impacted our ability to take death into our own hands and hearts.

This course is designed to help us cultivate a relationship with – and better understand the full range of choices we have when it comes to – death.

Learn from course facilitators as they share their moving stories about walking mindfully through the death of their loved ones to create more personal, meaningful and healing experiences for all involved.

  • Can being present with death help our healing process after losing someone we love?
  • Can we make the experience of death and dying more personal and honorable?
  • What are some options we have, and what information do we need in order to exercise them?
  • What environments can we choose (home, hospice house, hospital), and what are our options for burial, cremation, etc.?
  • What are the differences between laws, policy and accepted practice?
